Location Stazione Marittima

The Stazione Marittima of Naples was built in the Fascist era between 1933 and 1936. It is from here that Michelangelo’s Pietà left in 1964 on the Cristoforo Colombo ship that would take it to New York. The exterior decoration reproduces twelve Trani stone medallions: of these, eight depict various geographical locations (East Africa, Rome, Athens, Cairo, Rio De Janeiro, Calcutta and, of course, Naples). The others represent sea and air navigation, a steamer and a Roman ship. There are four bronze metopes, representing Castor and Pollux and the wealth of maritime trade, as well as the classic bronze horses.

Conference Hall Convention Center

Today the Stazione Marittima offers modern and functional structures among the most significant in Naples, its spaces have been the subject of restoration and reorganization, respecting the original architectural lines, thus giving rise to the Congress Center and the commercial gallery.
